Why/How did
you start Speed Skating?:
I knew my wife (only my girlfriend
at the time) used to speed skate and had
medals and trophies all over her house. I
grew up skating at Dreamland in Pensacola,
FL and knew about it but no one ever
approached me so i didnt think i was good
enough to join a team. When i moved up here
to be with Adorée they hadnt had a speed
team in over 5 years at her rink and she was
really close to her rink owner so me and
Franklin and a few other rink guys put the
idea into her head that she could coach one.
It took about a year to talk her into it but
after we got married in Oct of 2007 she
started practices, recruiting kids from
sessions and contacting old skating friends.
She had us racing by the cincinnatti
invitational in easter. I remember we didnt
do too well but we knew how hard we had to
work if we really wanted to win after that.
Its great to do something that i have always
enjoyed with my wife.
Outside of speed skating activities
or hobbies:
I love to travel... anywhere... with my wife and
friends. Watching 80's movies like Die Hard, Rambo and Beverly Hills
Cop. and in any spare time i have i love to ride my motorcycle, sleep
and eat!
Future Plans with your life: To be a great, but
fun husband and dad and to hopefully raise a kid who loves speed skating
and will make the world team one day. i'd love to go to worlds and watch
my kid compete.
Who do you admire the most and
why?:
My grandfather, because he raised me along with my
grandmother and he is just such a hard worker and so dedicated to his
family. He taught me so much from rebuilding cars and engines to working
in his heating and air conditioning buisness. i am who i am today
because of him and i hope to make him proud. |
